TPC Success Story: Meet Aricka

Aricka Stoutmire, La Salle University, Class of 2020

Born and raised in Homestead, PA, Aricka Stoutmire has taken the first step to overcoming the odds she was born into by going to college. Having faced financial hardship in paying for college and at risk for losing her financial aid, she was close to dropping out and returning back to the neighborhood. Among the peers she graduated with, many are not enrolled in college, face unemployment, teen pregnancy and have limited options for economic mobility. "If it weren't for The Pearl Club, my life would be very different. I thought I would not be able to return to La Salle in the Fall."

Reasons like this, among others, are why we exist. Too many young women are at risk for dropping out with no where to turn.  Aricka will continue to beat odds, overcome poverty, earn her college degree and become a career savvy young professional.
